Quiet autumn day. Gilded leaves give the final beauty before leaving for winter peace. Serenity and tranquility reign in clear air. The monastery stands thoughtfully and majestically on the banks of a sleeping river. It occupies a very small part of the picture, but instantly attracts attention to itself with a red bell tower, snow-white fortress walls and golden heads of temples. Life is in full swing - a group of parishioners stands on the shore, men rule the boats, preparing to hit the road.
The general golden tone permeates the whole picture, playing an important role in collecting the composition. Gold depicts leaves floating freely in the air and enveloping trees, heads of temples, reflections in the river, clouds, a strip of forest in the distance. Moving from detail to detail, the viewer enjoys calm colors, spirituality, the elevation of a typical autumn day, which runs near the monastery. Light blue color and extraordinary transparency fill the river and sky. There is very little red in the picture - the look from the red shirt of the person in the boat goes to the clothes of the parishioners and, finally, to the red-brown bell tower. Even less green - from the green grass in the river the viewer slowly wanders along the fortress wall and faces the green roofs of the monastery buildings.
The composition is designed so that the viewer, regardless of what he first paid attention to, ended up in the center of the picture, where the monastery is located. The temple, the bell tower are let go with reluctance, forced to return to them again and again, consider the details, enjoy the color and peace.
Water, sky and forest have been worked out with great skill. The work is filled with lyricism, grace, beauty.
