Falk Robert Rafailovich (1886-1958) - the famous avant-garde artist in Russia, who worked at the beginning of the 20th century.

He was a painter of Jewish origin, who managed to create in his work a unique synthesis of the avant-garde and Russian Art Nouveau, which was gaining popularity. Falk became famous not only for his paintings, whose artistic value is still growing, but also for his active work in the art world.

It was he who was one of the founders and creators of the association “Jack of Diamonds”, whose members set trends in Russian art of the early 20th century. Falk devoted almost six years to working in this community and created over the years of his life many works that are now stored in the largest museums in Russia and the world.

The painting “Naked” was written by Robert Rafailovich in 1916, in the prime of his life as an artist. Her full name sounds like “Nude. Crimea. ”, Which indicates the place of painting. The materials are common - canvas and oil, with which Falk worked the most. But the picture is very atypical for the viewer.

The canvas depicts a completely naked woman, comfortably sitting on a red blanket and white pillow. The body of the main character occupies most of the work - lush, almost Rubensian forms, spelled out in saturated color.

The frankness with which Falk portrays a woman is combined with simplicity. No unnecessary details are not depicted, only a beautiful dense body on which the artist masterfully notes light and shadow.

Local colors do not hurt the eyes, but always catch the eye with its richness. This work, the manner of writing it, can be compared with the famous Gauguin Tahitians, and it is in no way inferior to the famous foreign artist.
