The painting "Artaxerxes, Haman, and Esther" is one of the most famous paintings of the seventeenth century. The painting was painted in the early 1660. For so many years, the picture was not once from destruction. She was in a fire, she was kept in the basement, because of this she became dull, and her color lost its original features.

The painting was restored more than four times, and, despite all the failures, she is now quietly wounded in the State Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts.

Many experts believe that Rembrandt was inspired by the play "Esther", dedicated to the Hinlopen family.

The picture depicts three people, and as you might guess, these are Artaxerxes, Esther, and Haman. These heroes were taken from the book "Esther", and the scene tells about the feast of Artexerxes and his wife Esther, where their enemy, Aman, was invited.

In the center of the picture, in the brightest place, Artaxerxes himself sits. He is dressed in gold robes, a crown is on his head. On the right sits his wife, Esther. Her outfit is not inferior along with the king. She is wearing a gilded dress and a cloak that is incredibly long. Her dress is decorated with stones, a necklace is visible on her neck. Her hair is blond, and on her head is a crown that looks even richer than that of Artaxerxes. Well, Haman sits in the left in the shade. His clothes look simpler. It is brown in color, with a turban on its head.

Haman's face with a beard, his gaze downcast. The faces of all the heroes are poorly visible, because the picture is a bit blurry. Clearly we can see only Esther. Her thin eyebrows, half-closed eyes are visible. Her cheekbones and nose and ears are visible.

The heroes seemed to freeze, and the artist managed to depict them on his canvas. From the mouths of the heroes as if still breaking lines. You can even imagine what happened a minute before this moment, as well as what will happen next. It is such realism that is inherent in Rembrandt's paintings.
